What is Parlay Betting?
Parlay betting (also called Accumulator) combines multiple selections into one bet. All selections must win for the bet to pay out. The advantage is higher potential returns from a smaller stake, as odds are multiplied together.
System bets are more flexible - for example, a Trixie only needs 2 out of 3 selections to win for some return. This reduces risk but requires a higher stake.
Common System Bets
- 3串4 (Trixie): 3 doubles + 1 treble = 4 bets
- 4串11 (Yankee): 6 doubles + 4 trebles + 1 fourfold = 11 bets
- 5串26 (Canadian): 10 doubles + 10 trebles + 5 fourfolds + 1 fivefold = 26 bets
- 6串57 (Heinz): 15 doubles + 20 trebles + 15 fourfolds + 6 fivefolds + 1 sixfold = 57 bets
- 8串247 (Goliath): All combinations from doubles to 8-folds = 247 bets

What a system bet actually costs
In the Hong Kong "N串M" notation, N is the number of matches and M is the number of bets. The calculator works per bet: enter HK$100 on a 3串4 and the total outlay is HK$400, not HK$100. This is the single most common mistake.

Three worked examples
Each bet pays the stake multiplied by the odds of every leg in it. A voided leg counts as odds of 1, so it drops out. A half-win leg becomes 1 plus half of (odds − 1), and a half-loss leg counts as 0.5.
1. Trixie, all three legs win
Three legs at 1.90, HK$100 a bet. The three doubles pay 3 × (100 × 1.90 × 1.90) = HK$1,083 and the treble pays 100 × 1.90³ = HK$685.90. Total return HK$1,768.90 against an outlay of HK$400, so the profit is HK$1,368.90.
2. Trixie, two legs win and one loses
Same three legs at 1.90, one of them beaten. Only the double made up of the two winners pays, returning HK$361; the other two doubles and the treble return nothing. Total return HK$361 against HK$400 staked, a loss of HK$39. Being right twice out of three still loses money, which is the point of the format.
3. Double, one leg wins and one wins half
Two legs at 1.90, one of them a one-goal win on a half/one line, which settles as a half win. Its odds become 1 + (1.90 − 1) ÷ 2 = 1.45. The bet returns 100 × 1.90 × 1.45 = HK$275.50, a profit of HK$175.50. Had that leg been voided instead, its odds would count as 1 and the return would be HK$190.
Three common mistakes
- "A Trixie is three bets." It is four, so the outlay is four times the per-bet stake. Read the bet count before staking.
- "More legs means better odds." More legs also means a smaller chance of getting them all right. A treble pays only on a clean sweep; a Trixie still returns something on two out of three, at four times the cost.
- "A void leg kills the bet." A voided leg counts as odds of 1, so the bet settles on the remaining legs rather than collapsing to nothing.

What is the difference between a Trixie and a treble?
A treble is a single bet that pays only if all three legs win. A Trixie is four bets, three doubles plus the treble, so two correct legs still return something. The trade-off is that a Trixie costs four times as much.
What happens if one leg of my system bet is voided?
A voided leg counts as odds of 1, so it has no effect on the payout and the bet settles on the remaining legs. A double with one voided leg pays the same as a single on the other leg.
How does a half-win leg settle inside a system bet?
Its odds become 1 plus half of (odds − 1). At 1.90 that is 1.45, which is then multiplied by the other legs' odds. A half-loss leg counts as 0.5.
How is a Lucky 15 different from a Yankee?
Both cover four matches. A Yankee is 11 bets: the doubles, trebles and the fourfold. A Lucky 15 adds the four singles for 15 bets, so one winning leg already returns something, at a higher total outlay.
